My research interest concentrates on the Cultural Revolution required within global corporations in order to transform practices when implementing sustainability strategies. Lately, I have focused in the cement industry to examine the cultural transformation at the organizational and individual level when sustainability guidelines are implemented. As an important part of the cement industry context, the urban environment and the construction paradigms have called my attention. My previous research in this field has been the discourse analysis of the cement industry public documents. An interest on multidisciplinary research frames my field of study since I am convinced of the importance of attending the multiple sides of sustainability at the same time. My background is in economics and humanistic studies while today I am engaged in contemporary anthropology in order to contribute to the construction of a sustainable future. Before joining Rice University, I was a professor of Mexican Studies at the Universidad de Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico.
