Research Interests:   Historical archaeology; landscape archaeology; lithic technology;archaeology of urbanism in Africa; peripatetic monarchies and other manifestations of mobile political centers; the history and archaeology of religious communities.  Areas: Ethiopia and its regional context. 
Dissertation topic: Royally sponsored religious communities in medieval Ethiopia and their interconnections with regional affairs and the mobility of the royal court.
