Rice’s Ethnography Studio is pleased to announce the call for participants for the the 2018 Ethnographic Salon, March 1st, from 6:00-8:30 PM in the Sewall Hall Sculpture Garden. Continuing our tradition, the Ethnographic Salon is a celebration of the value and potential of ethnography as an intellectual and collaborative practice. All graduate students and postdocs are invited to submit proposals.
Prof. Andrea Ballestero has been awared a Design Studio Grant by the Humanities Research Center for her Underground Spatialities project. In collaboration with Dr. Marie Saldana and Dr. Johannes Birringer she is leading a group of ten graduate and undergraduate students in exploring, modelling and producing an interactive installation of subterranean space. The studio will include fieldwork at the Rice University tunnel system, the Houston Cistern, and the Natural Bridge Caverns.
