Quinn Georgic Wins The Greene Prize

Quinn Georgic

Rice Anthropology PhD student Quinn Georgic has been awarded the prestigious Greene Prize for environmental writing, endowed by the family of alumnus David Greene (’93) and administered by the Center for Environmental Studies. Georgic's winning essay, “Disrupting the Whitened Lemur – Toward a Black Trans* Science,” explores how racial and gendered logics of reproduction and family structures shape scientific interpretations of lemur social behavior.

The Greene Prize recognizes original environmental writing by Rice undergraduate and graduate students, encouraging impactful, interdisciplinary work that bridges science and society.
